FAQ – Student portal and Monash study app
Do tasks that are available (but not shown in Moodle) show up in the Monash Study app or Student Portal?
Only assignments, quizzes and workshops that are available in Moodle will be displayed (along with assessments scheduled in Allocate+). The assessment must have a due date, or it will not be shown in the Mobile Study app or the Student Portal.
Where do the Monash Study app and Student Portal pull data from?
Assessment data is fetched from Moodle, and class data is fetched from Allocate+.
Is there a plan to show more activity types?
We plan to add the remaining graded assessment types in the future. For now, only data on assignments, quizzes and workshops with a due date are pulled from Moodle.
I want students to view the letter grade only and I want to hide the numerical grade. How can I do this?
You can set activity grades to letter display at an individual activity level or at unit level. For more information, see TeachHQ: Letter grades.
Shown is the Student View grade.

Do the Monash Study app or Student Portal send out notifications to students for things like assignment due dates, important dates or activities in their timetable?
By default, the Student Portal and Monash Study app don’t send push notifications for assessment grades, assessment due dates or important dates. This information is listed (and shown in their schedules) for students to review as they choose.
However, if the student has enabled the reminders in the Monash Study app, notifications will be sent. In the Reminders feature, students can choose to receive notifications leading up to an activity, starting at 30 minutes and going up to a week before the start of an activity. Reminders are available for any type of activity with a time dependency (e.g. integrated Zooms, submission dates, LTIs with “Expect completed on” dates).
